Queer Bar | with Film Screening

This year's finale of the QUEER BAR will take place on Friday, 8 September. As a special programme for this edition, there will be a screening of the film Wildness by the American artist Wu Tsang. Tsang tells the story of a queer nightclub in Los Angeles, a documentary portrait with atmospheric impact. After the film, the evening will continue as usual with a colourful get-together, music and drinks!

After our summer party in July with its diverse programme and the subsequent summer break, the QUEER BAR celebrates its comeback with a final edition: In cooperation with the Filmclub M.1, the QUEER BAR will present the documentary video Wildness, which explores questions of belonging, community and the meaning of queer nightlife. The film makes visible the complex identities of the bar-goers and the tensions that arise between them, in the Los Angeles location Silver Platter. The questions raised in the film offer an opportunity to reflect on the QUEER BAR as a place for community: How can we create a space together that acknowledges individual differences instead of ignoring them? How can all people feel comfortable and safe with each other in it?

The film is shown in English and Spanish with English subtitles. The screening starts at 7 pm.

Everybody is welcome, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity and sexual orientation. The bar will be open from 6 pm in the garden of M.1 in Hohenlockstedt. The venue is barrier-free. Admission is free.
