Open Day at M.1
The Open Day begins at 2:00 pm with a welcome address by Dr Ulrike Boskamp and Katja Schroeder (Co-Directors, Arthur Boskamp-Stiftung). This will be followed at 2:30 pm by the first guided tour of the historic M.1 foundation building, exploring its past and present uses. At the same time, the children’s film programme will begin, ensuring that both parents and children have plenty to enjoy. Following the tour, Holo Comics, the comic course for children and young people, which has been held weekly at M.1 since 2022, will open an exhibition of participants’ work. At 3:15 pm, Ronald Kolb will do a guided tour of the current exhibition of the Arthur Boskamp-Stiftung Advancement Awards. The tour concludes with a presentation of the Modularküche cookbook, developed as part of the award project. The publication reimagines recipes from Portugal using seasonal ingredients from Schleswig-Holstein and is beautifully illustrated with coloured-pencil drawings by the artist Paula König. Visitors arriving later need not worry about missing out: both the building tour and the exhibition tour will be offered again later in the afternoon. For the second tour of the Advancement Awards exhibition, artist Eda Aslan will give a reading.
As the afternoon progresses, the Internationales Dorfmagazin 255ϛ1 will present its latest issue. Between 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm, the M.1 Repair Café will offer free knife sharpening (please bring no more than two knives per person). The M.1 Filmclub will also provide insights into its activities as part of the house tours. Head of constructions, Winni Mende, will give an update on the restoration of the former soldiers’ home, and at 5:00 pm a guided tour of the construction site will be offered (meeting point: Kieler Str. 42).
The Open Day takes place on the final day of the Advancement Awards exhibition, marking the conclusion of Ronald Kolb’s eighteen-month tenure as Artistic Director 2025/26. Through the exhibitions of the 2025/26 award recipients, the Arthur Boskamp-Stiftung presents two artistic research-based practices that engage in different ways with ecology, memory and everyday culture. The collaborative project Modularküche by Paula König, Liliana Escalhão and Johann König brings together art and food, experimenting with the translation of recipes into new geographical and cultural contexts. The exhibition Transmitting Wind by the artist Eda Aslan explores air currents as carriers of political and material histories.
We look forward to welcoming you and to spending a summer’s day together.
