M.1 Repair-Café

At the M.1 Repair-Café, a team of volunteer repairers helps visitors diagnose faults in broken everyday items – mainly electrical devices and textiles – and, where possible, fix them together.

At the M.1 Repair Café, a team of volunteer repairers support visitors who bring their faulty everyday items in examining these for defects and, where possible, repairing them together.

The Repair Café was initiated in 2020 by Benno Diedrichsen, Christian Meurer, and Claudia Dorfmüller. It takes place eight times a year—from February to June and from September to November—on the first Saturday of each month, from 2 to 5 p.m. at M.1 (items to repair are accepted until 4 p.m.). Most of the repairs involve electrical appliances, but sewing and other handiwork are also offered.

At the M.1 Repair Café, people repair, experiment, and advise one another. These repairs foster a culture of conscious use of things and materials—something we need if we want to live more sustainably in the future. Knowledge, tips, and tricks are exchanged at the Repair Café—little skills that might help the next time your radio crackles or a button pops off your jacket.

The M.1 Repair Café is run by a large and welcoming team of volunteer repairers from Hohenlockstedt and the surrounding area. New repairers are always warmly welcomed! If you would like to get involved, please feel free to drop by or contact Charlotte Perka at cp@arthurboskamp-stiftung.de .

To help ensure that the repair team enjoy their work, we kindly ask all visitors to bring items in a clean and hygienic condition. The volunteer repairers donate their time and are free to decide whether or not they can or wish to repair a given item.

While one part of the house hums with the activity of repairs, visitors can relax with a cup of coffee and a slice of cake in the adjoining café and have a chat.

If you’d like to stay informed about the dates of the upcoming Repair Cafés, we invite you to sign up for our newsletter.
