Recently at M.1: Fall Assembly

The Fall Assembly was the third gathering within the exhibition project “Art as Ecological Practice” at M.1 in Hohenlockstedt. The Fall Assembly 2025 unfolded as a festival of abundance – in potatoes, algae, sourdough, cola plants, preserves, bouquets, films and stories. What emerged was not accumulation, but a practice of distribution and generosity: of active listening, preserving, fermenting, tasting, sharing, remembering and reimagining.

M.1 Lokal: Filmclub

Am Freitag, den 07. November zeigt der Filmclub M.1 das einfühlsame Drama Close to You, das die sehr persöhnliche Geschichte eines trans Mannes erzählt, der nach Hause zurückkehrt und sich dort gegen Vorurteile behaupten und alte Gefühle neu einordnen muss. Elliot Page glänzt in der Rolle.

NKN

Am 15. Oktober eröffnete die Ausstellung Die Welt zu Gast. Stipendienstätten im Norden als Orte der Kunst und Begegnung die Schleswig-Holsteinischen Landtages, an der wir im Rahmen des Netzwerkes Norddeutscher Künstler:innenhäuser (NKN) beteiligt sind.

Den meisten Künstler:innen ist es in ihrer Entwicklung wichtig, die eigenen vier Wände zu verlassen und sich in Auseinandersetzung mit anderen Kontexten zu begeben. Stipendienstätten geben ihnen dazu die Möglichkeit. Das 2018 gegründete NKN möchte das Potenzial dieser Produktionsstätten stärker sichtbar machen. In ihrer Gruppenausstellung geben sie unter dem Kerngedanken der Gastgeberschaft Einblick in ihre Arbeit.
Parents in Arts

We are very happy to announce, for the second time, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Media Hamburg, a residency scholarship specifically aimed at artists and writers who are also parents.

Six two-week working residencies are being offered for writers, literary translators, or comic artists, as well as visual artists and curators with children, at the M.1 of the Arthur Boskamp Foundation in Hohenlockstedt. Three of the six scholarships will be awarded in the field of literature and three in the field of visual arts. The programme is open to artists and authors residing in Hamburg (HVV fare zones ABCD).

Art as Ecological Practice

A process-based exhibitionary project exploring ecological practice through workshops, performances, screenings, installations, cooking and structured around artistic research, collaborative activities, and four seasonal assemblies.

Högerbau

Since 2022, the Arthur Boskamp-Stiftung together with the Kiel-based architecture firm Archi-Tektur PartG mbB have been renovating the „Högerbau", the former soldiers' home in Hohenlockstedt, planned by Fritz Höger and built in 1911.

The dates for the next public tours are:

The Arthur Boskamp-Stiftung is a member of the Network of Artists' Houses in Northern Germany (NKN), founded in 2019. Artists' residences are working and meeting places for artists and cultural workers from all over the world, equipped with studios, workshops and communication rooms and guest apartments. Far beyond their original task of promoting artists, they are interfaces between art and society and provide public spaces for social and cultural exchange. The NKN wants to make visible the potential of these national and international residency sites for artistic production in Northern Germany.
